Tel Aviv University

Tel Aviv University (TAU) is the largest research university in Israel and one of its highest ranking. The School of Physics and Astronomy has major research departments in high energy and nuclear physics, condensed matter physics and Astronomy. The TAU group that will carry out this project is composed of one full professor (G. Deutscher) and four collaborators. This group is a world leader on High Tc devices based on sapphire, see for instance the video "Quantum Levitation" 

watched by over 8 million. It has been working recently on HTS devices using sapphire single crystal ribbons for FCL appylications.

Guy Deutscher: former student of the Ecole des Mines de Paris, he holds a PhD degree from the Faculty of Sciences of Orsay, supervised by Professor P. G. de Gennes and Professor J. Friedel. He was Maitre de Conférences at the Institute of Technology (Faculté des Sciences d’Orsay) from 1968 to 1971. He has been Professor of Physics at the Tel Aviv université from 1971. He has developed Developed a new group on Low Temperature Physic. From 1983 to 1986 he was the first Director of Gordon Center for Energy Studies.

Principal lines of research: superconductivity, transport and optical properties of inhomogeneous media, granular materials. Energy and entropy.

Boaz Almog: Dr. Condensed Matter Physics, Solid State Physics, Materials Science. Dr. Boaz Almog is a physicist from Tel-Aviv University, whose TED Talk about his research field, Quantum Levitation and numerous educational videos were watched by over 15 million viewers worldwide. Being a passionate educator and a building-blocks enthusiastic Dr. Almog started working on BRIXO in 2014 as the ultimate combination. Building with BRIXO blocks inspires users to apply their imagination and learn basic science and electronics at the same time. He is also a busy entrepreneur and inventor holding 7 patents on quantum physics (4) and electric building blocks (3). Through a company that he founded in 2012, Quantum Experience ltd, Dr. Boaz continues to research quantum physics while working on the education and recreational startup - BRIXO.
